Reliance JioBook, the low-cost laptop, on its way
Reliance Jio, India’s leading telecom company, is working on to develop a low-cost laptop as ‘JioBook’ which will run on the ‘JioOS’ operating system.

Hyderabad: Reliance Jio, India's leading telecom company, is working on to develop a low-cost laptop as 'JioBook' which will run on the 'JioOS' operating system.
According to reports, the company will launch the laptops with cellular connectivity developed on Qualcomm hardware, but the components and software will be developed by other manufacturers. The laptop is likely to support the Jio's expansive 4G network through the cellular connectivity.
JioBook will be running on a customised version of Google's Android OS operating system called JioOS. The company aims to bring down the costs considerably, making it the most affordable laptop. A prototype of this much-awaited laptop is using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 665 with a 11nm chipset. The chipset uses Snapdragon X12 a 4G LTE modem for cellular connectivity.
Jio has partnered with China-based Bluebank Communication Technology, an engineering firm to develop the laptop. Bluebank is the company that developed the Jio phones with Kai OS.
Presently the laptop development is under engineering validation test which is the penultimate stage of the product development cycle. The laptop release will be finalized after Product Validation Test which may continue till mid-April. Then the laptop is likely to be released in next half of the 2021.
Reports say that the laptop may come with a 1366x768 pixel resolutions display, 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of eMMC 5.1 storage. It will have a mini HDMI connector, use of latest technology for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
